Helphire chairman and directors step down after 'challenging year'

The chairman of one of Bath's biggest firms has announced hisresignation after it admitted its financial position was worse thanfeared.

Joining Richard Rose in stepping down from the board at accidentassistance firm Helphire last week were two non-exec directors,former Home Secretary Lord Howard and the chairman of its auditcommittee Andrew Cripps.

The Pinesway-based firm said it was slimming down its board inline with the business's own "reduced scale" and there has beenspeculation that its major shareholders had demanded that headsshould roll.

It now employs 1,200 people across the country, with only 120remaining in Bath after call centre …
